Episode 11.55 – I hope nobody out there is a Milluki fan

Yeah, like the title says, if you like the largest of the 5 Zoldyck siblings, apologies, we’re not nice to the man at all, though admittedly it’s well deserved. By the by, no I do not remember what Bullet Beast was talking about at the very beginning of this segment but it sounds funny so I left it in.

Episode 11 – Menchi doesn’t even eat pork

Bullet Beast accurately predicts Alluka’s ability as we know it so far in chapter 323 by comparing him/her to Neon Nostrade and her (former) Ghostwriter ability.

By the way, this episode has very minimal editing, but there shouldn’t be any major issues. We also take some time to talk about our disappointments with some directorial choices in the anime series so far, namely the censorship and the damage to Killua’s character as it stands 5 episodes in. We talk a bit about some other mature series MADHOUSE has handled lately, namely the Hellsing OVAs (itself a truer to the manga adaptation rather than the TV series like Hunter X Hunter 2011) and mention Black Lagoon in passing.

Episode 9 – Boy or Girl?

Episode 7 – Not Working

So yeah, episode 7 had JWHoof’s first appearance after trying to be on the show since we first started taking guests. Except then his power went off, so byebye to him. Then my recorder (or Skype) suddenly it didn’t care anymore about who spoke first and was recording things out of order. Thankfully that problem only persisted for the first half of the show and I managed to nip most of it in the bud. So if things sound weird, I apologize profusely, I’m still quite new to this.

Episode 6 – So, Discussion?

In case you were wondering about the creepy song I chose and the ending theme, well hearing it randomly on my iPod made me feel a bit weird so I decided I had to share it to see if it was just me. According to my cohost, NOPE. This song is definitely traumatizing. I scoured the Internet and found some translated lyrics along with a performance of it from the musical linked below.

Hunter X Hunter The Nightmare of Zaoldyeck

Episode 2 – The King and I

For episode 2 we decided to welcome both old and new fans of the series in something of a unique way. For the new fans, we take a trip down memory lane and enjoy with you the first volume of the manga, dissecting it now that we know how a lot of things turn out. For the older fans, we take the spoiler heavy route of discussing the antagonist of the current arc.

The first volume of the manga is chock-full of information that slowly begins to reveal the world of Hunter X Hunter to us, through the eyes of a young boy that is as unaware as we are of the existence of hunters and their important role in keeping the world turning. They search for treasures, discover lost civilizations, breed rare animals and chase after dangerous criminals, among a host of other things. Gon Freecs seeks to become a hunter like his father, whom he has never met, and to do this he has to first past the Hunter exam, a treacherous test that 1 rookie every three years passes.

Volume 1 covers the introduction of all five main characters: Gon, Leorio, Kurapica, Killua and Hisoka, all holding their own secrets.

Hisoka's secret? That's totally magic.

After the break, where we say goodbye to those who don’t want to be spoiled, we tackle the major antagonist in the Chimera Ants arc, their King, Meryem. Depicted as brutal, selfish, and arrogant initially, the change this character undergoes is quite interesting.
