Appearances can be deceiving, a phrase that certainly pertains to Hunter x Hunter. We cover the news, Episode 62: Reality X and X Raw, and as a special treat, a review of the movie by one of our fans, James Smith. (Click on his name to go to his blog)
As if the title wasn’t enough of a clue as to where this episode eventually goes, we dabble into the the perfect interview we would like to conduct with Voice Actors. We cover the news, Episode 61 Invitation X and X Friend, and answer some fan questions.
We are back after the holiday break, hopefully you all had a good one. This is going to be a bit of an experimental phase for the podcast. I (Diego) will try my hand at editing and uploading the episodes to give Foxy a break, only took 55 episodes. In this episode we cover the latest news, analyze the cover for volume 32, and go over episode 59 and 60 of the anime.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, other assorted holidays and holy days. We hope you enjoy whatever days off from work you may manage to garner from this wonderful season. May you gorge yourself spectacularly as you rupture your diets for the last time before the new year. This week we’re recapping the York Shin arc and talking a bit about our favorite moments with our guest Funkatron of the Unofficial One Piece Podcast(they have a new forum!).
Did you know it was our 50th episode? Because clearly we didn’t. Regardless, we’re here for you even if there’s no grand hurrah. Diego was unable to join us for this recording, and I’m busy using my inside voice for most of the episode due to actually trying to act like a considerate human being for once. Oh, and Bullet Beast’s here, yay.
Hey Kurapika, it’s me, your best buddy Hisoka. I know you had a long couple of years ahead of you, what with finally moving on to the next stage of grief and potentially engaging in healthy, trusting relationship with other human beings, but let’s be real for a moment. That would’ve been SO boring. I’ve decided instead to put you through the emotional ringer and give you some information you’d really value but would pull the rug out from under you for the third time in about 6 hours. I wanted to message you earlier, but I had to time it just right to undermine Chrollo’s plan to get out of dodge. Which he’s going to do if only I could wrap up this message. He’s alive by the way. Huh, probably should’ve said that first. Anyway, sorry about this being multiple messages, I know you don’t have an unlimited plan. It’s just that 160 characters is so limiting to my free expression bro. Yours in murder,(<3) Hisoka. XOXOXOXOXO (<3)

The anime is doing pretty well in the rankings but still can’t beat reruns of One Piece And here’s the picture Diego’s talking about
We actually didn’t reference the song within the episode but when Kuroro said “My friends call me Boss”, the biggest boss instantly popped into my head and I was supposed to do what would’ve been a horrible video edit of Kuroro rapping along to Rick Ross. But I didn’t, because time.
It almost looks like he’s raising holy hands, or about to have a praise shout.

Somehow everyone neglected to inform/remind me that an episode hadn’t been released in 11 days and I really should’ve gotten on that, so I’m absolving myself of all responsibility (cause I’m awful like that) and releasing episode 45 now, today.
Everything about this is kind of disgusting. You’re welcome.
I think this is what Diego was trying to reach for when talking about Uvogin fighting while drinking.
And I believe Bullet Beast was referencing this song

In uninteresting podcast news, this week we will be shifting to a new recording schedule due to the NFL starting back up and unceremoniously swiping our recording slot. As a result the episodes will not release on Thursdays, because that would be impossible. Look for them to air around the time this one does, which would be Sunday evenings.
In Episode 43 we cover Episode 45 of the new anime and Chapters 116-119 of the manga, which covers the high tension point of the York New arc and ties off nicely Kurapika’s dealings with the Spiders.

Seeing as the York Shin arc is about to go bananas insane and we’re staying fairly true to the manga, 44 episodes in, do you prefer the previous series or the new one?

Spoiler – Diego found out immediately after recording that I was wrong about the discussion of (name redacted)’s fate at the very end of the episode. (Doesn’t surprise me that I’m wrong, I usually am when it comes to remembering).

This time we’re covering two episodes due to Diego’s Anime Expo appearance disrupting our (new) usual recording time slot. Coincidentally it was also disrupted this past week for some WWE pay per view (also Diego’s fault) so expect next week’s episode to cover two episodes too. Thanks to Tasha/Kurama9 for emailing us again, and the rest of you can feel free to send some dialogue our way.

We delve into the two episodes featuring Ging’s (un)fatherly challenge to Gon to come and find him.

We somehow got distracted by our own Internet handles, and that led into a fun discussion right after the episode started, so of course it’s kept in the final cut.

This episode covers episode 36, the conclusion of the fight between Gon & Hisoka and Volume 12, chapters 113-115 as Kurapika’s vengeance is beginning to magnificently take shape.
The Least Spoilerific picture I could find from this chapter.

You know that feeling when you could’ve been doing something really cool but you got stuck babysitting because you thought it was the right thing to do? [Spoiler] knows that feeling. Episode 35 is a week late because it was going to be a few days late and then someone on twitter said “You mean, a week late, right?” and then somehow we teleported to here. Episode 36 should release on time barring any other problems.
Watch Episode 33 – An X Empty X Threat. Linked on Dailymotion because Crunchyroll won’t even let me find the link due to being outside the US.
This is probably a poor choice for the title of this picture.

We finally made it to the episode we’ve been waiting for the last month or so, and after discussing it seriously we devolve into silliness. Episode was not bad, it was pretty good actually. Anime only this week due to lateness (of recording time, not date).
I’m about to lose my mind. You’ve been gone for so long, I’m running out of time. I need a doctor. Call me a doct-Oh, never mind, you got this.
Episode 32 discussion warrants a mild spoiler warning (and blasphemy warning) once we get into the metaphor surrounding the Phantom Troupe.
